Built From Real Kitchen Table Conversations
We started because families needed honest help with money, not complex theories that fall apart when life gets messy
Where We Actually Came From
Back in 2019, I sat across from a couple who had spreadsheets coming out of their ears but still couldn't figure out why their savings kept disappearing. They weren't bad with money. They just needed someone to explain budgeting without the financial jargon that makes your eyes glaze over.
That moment stuck with me. Most families don't need complicated investment portfolios or fancy accounting systems. They need practical ways to track spending, plan for school fees, and maybe save enough for a holiday without feeling guilty about it.
So we built nivolantore around that simple idea: teach budgeting the way real people actually manage money, not how textbooks say they should.
What Guides Our Approach
These aren't corporate values we printed on posters. They're the principles that shape every workshop and conversation we have.
Real Numbers Only
We work with actual household figures. No hypothetical examples about people earning six figures when you're trying to manage childcare on a single income.
Life Changes Fast
Budgets that worked last year might not fit today. We teach flexible systems that adapt when someone loses hours or when the car needs unexpected repairs.
Shame-Free Space
Everyone's made money mistakes. We focus on building better habits going forward rather than dwelling on past financial decisions you can't change.
Who's Behind nivolantore
We're a small team, which means you'll actually get to know us during your learning journey
Callum Trenholm
Lead Financial Educator
Spent twelve years working in community banking before realizing most people just needed someone to explain money stuff in plain English. Now I run our workshops and one-on-one sessions, usually with a cup of terrible instant coffee in hand.
Outside work? I'm probably trying to teach my kids about pocket money while they negotiate like tiny lawyers. It keeps me honest about making budgeting advice actually work in real life.
What We're Working Toward
Our goal isn't to turn everyone into financial experts. It's to help families feel more confident about their money decisions and less stressed when unexpected expenses pop up.
We're planning autumn 2025 workshops specifically for parents managing school costs, sports fees, and everything else that drains bank accounts faster than you'd expect. We're also developing resources for couples who need to get on the same page about spending without turning every conversation into an argument.
If you're tired of feeling anxious every time you check your account balance, or if you'd like to actually understand where your money goes each month, we'd be glad to help you figure it out.
